Just ask the designers over at Black Diamond who combined all the best ingredients of all the midlayers out there into one high-functioning jacket that will be the only jacket you’ll need most days. Chances are good that you’re going to encounter a little foul weather when you’re playing in high mountains. And since most weather systems don’t necessitate the waterproof protection of a shell, it’s nice to wear a midlayer that will deal with a little wind and precip, so you don’t have to rush to put a shell on at the first sign high winds and grey clouds. Designed to combine weather-resistance, breathabilitty, and insulation, the Black Diamond Men’s Deployment Hybrid Hooded Jacket is a well-rounded midlayer that you can wear once snow starts to fall when you’re on the up-track and maintain the breathability needed to keep you cool when your heart rate is up.

The sleeves, shoulders, and hood of the jacket are composed of a weather-resistant Schoeller stretch-woven material with NanoSphere technology to shield you from wind and light precipitation. The rest of the jacket is composed of a merino wool material to offer the breathability necessary to keep you moving at a good clip during the ascent. Inside the jacket is a light, 80g Primaloft Silver hi-loft insulation for increased warmth and a breathable mesh lining below that to help manage moisture and promote breathability. The actual layout of the jacket consists of a low-profile hood, two chest pockets, and stretch cuffs, so you wear it comfortably with your climbing helmet and harness on.
